I s it wrong to use artificial intelligence—or at least unethical? As AI technology rapidly becomes part of everyday life, opinions remain sharply divided over its role in creative fields such as writing, image generation, and video production. Some people view artificial intelligence as a valuable tool that enhances productivity, creativity, and efficiency, while others believe it threatens originality, replaces human talent, and raises ethical concerns about authenticity, misinformation, and dependence on technology.
The use of artificial intelligence has sparked widespread debate over whether it should be accepted, restricted, or rejected altogether. Some people believe AI can be used freely for tasks such as writing, research, image creation, and video production, viewing it as simply another technological advancement designed to make life easier and more efficient. Others take a more cautious position, arguing that AI should only be used in moderation as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for human creativity and effort. Still, there are those who strongly oppose the use of AI entirely, believing it undermines originality, encourages laziness, threatens jobs, and creates serious ethical concerns. Although AI is highly beneficial for research, writing assistance, and technological advancement, its risks to privacy, employment, and authentic human expression reveal the importance of using it responsibly. However, regardless of where people stand on the issue, artificial intelligence has become deeply embedded in modern society, and it is clear that AI is here to stay.

How I Incorporate AI in My Work

And just like everyone else, I have my own opinion on the use of artificial intelligence. Personally, I believe AI is acceptable as long as it is used in moderation and as a supportive tool rather than a complete replacement for human thought and creativity. I believe AI is most beneficial when it assists with editing and improving existing work instead of creating everything from scratch.
For example, using AI for proofreading, revisions, clarity, sentence structure, grammar correction, rewording, identifying run-on sentences or fragments, and suggesting synonyms or antonyms is reasonable and helpful. Many editing programs, such as Grammarly, already use artificial intelligence to improve writing quality and help users communicate more clearly and effectively. In this sense, AI functions more like an advanced editing assistant than a replacement for the writer.
I also believe AI can be useful when the original context and meaning of a person’s work remain intact. Sometimes a paragraph may feel too bland, awkward, or underdeveloped, and AI can help polish the writing while still preserving the writer’s original voice, thoughts, emotions, and intentions. When used responsibly in this way, AI does not necessarily destroy creativity but can instead help strengthen and refine it. The important distinction is that the ideas, perspective, and creative foundation should still belong to the human creator rather than being entirely generated by artificial intelligence.

The paragraph clearly describes Jane and Betty and their plans to go shopping, but the writing itself feels somewhat plain and lacks depth. AI can help refine and polish the paragraph, making it more engaging, descriptive, and pleasant to read while still preserving my original voice, context and intent.
Below is the paragraph that AI generated after I requested a detailed revision.
Jane Doe strolled down the sun-drenched sidewalk, the warm breeze teasing strands of her hair as she made her way toward the cozy downtown café where she and her best friend Betty had planned to meet. The two had been inseparable since their kindergarten days—bonded by scraped knees, shared secrets, and decades of laughter. Today, their mission was a joyful one: shopping for the perfect gift for their dear friend Judy’s upcoming baby shower. Jane smiled at the thought, already imagining pastel wrapping paper, soft blankets, and tiny socks no bigger than her thumb.
Overall, I am satisfied with the result, except for the line “…made her way toward the cozy downtown café…,” because a café was not included in my original paragraph. I do not accept or want that addition.

However, If I use AI to list baby shower gifts, wrapping etc, in order to be more descriptive, Then I may use: Jane smiled at the thought, already imagining pastel wrapping paper, soft blankets, and tiny socks no bigger than her thumb.
This would be no different than looking the information up online.
When I first started using AI, I struggled with it because I wasn’t sure if I was cheating or not being true to myself. But I was never satisfied with my own writing style as far as sounding too plain, not descriptive enough with sentences, and using the same words over and over. But I always had the confidence to write, and I always have something to say.
In essence, I believe artificial intelligence can be a valuable tool when used responsibly, especially in ways that support rather than replace human creativity. It can help refine writing, enhance clarity, and add descriptive depth while still preserving the writer’s original voice and intent. When used with clear boundaries and personal judgment, AI becomes less of a substitute and more of a collaborative aid that strengthens the writing process rather than diminishing it.
The bottom line is, artificial intelligence is neither entirely beneficial nor entirely harmful, but instead a powerful tool whose impact depends on how it is used. While it offers significant advantages in productivity, research, creativity, and technological advancement, it also presents serious concerns regarding originality, privacy, misinformation, overdependence, and job displacement. Ultimately, AI should be approached with balance, responsibility, and critical thinking, ensuring that it enhances human ability rather than replaces it. As society continues to evolve alongside this technology, the key challenge will not be whether AI should exist, but how it can be used ethically to support human creativity, intelligence, and progress.
